Hubbard Requests Asylum
In April 1951, when Hubbard was in Cuba, he went to the US Embassy. This was during the time that he had kidnapped Valerie Alexis Hubbard, a daughter he would later deny ever having. He was keeping her from her mother, Sara Northrup, his estranged wife. While he was there and people were closing in on him, he left his infant daughter with other people and went to the embassy and asked for asylum from "communists." He included his wife, Sara, in the list of communists he was afraid of.
